What Does It Mean to be a Wise and Powerful Medicine Woman?

This is one of the threads we explored in Michigan during the Weekend of Illumination in the north woods along the shores of Lake Michigan.

We released dense energy and were cleared using the elements of wind, fire, earth and waters of the lake during our retreat.

We immersed ourselves in the beauty of the unfurling spring leaves, moss covered rocks in the labyrinth, cool yet swimmable waters of the lake, and the wonder of the many winged and furred ones who visited.

We offered our despachos or gratitude prayer packets to the fire as the sun was setting over the lake.

The luminous and shifting quality of the light was magical and moody.  The sun, moon and stars pulsed and radiated through the atmosphere, sometimes so cloudy with fog, smoke and pollen that it was difficult to see and sometimes crystal clear.

This was all part of our experience as we shed our past the way serpent sheds her skin, visioned a new story, and moved the energy of our decisions with breath, until ready to step back out into the world.

Besides other important teachings, what arose from our journeys, clearings, perceptual shifts and visions was the call for women to rise up as powerful keepers of wisdom and healing medicine. While this will be an ongoing inquiry on the Awakened Soul journey, the following characteristics came to our attention:

Wise Powerful Women

  • Know their story and have worked to clear the blocks and barriers that have kept them tied to the past.

  • Understand that true power lies in cooperation, not competition.

  • Recognize that as co-creators with the earth and spirit both masculine and feminine come through them.

  • Pay attention and notice the resources that show up.

  • Realize that living simply, invites vision.

  • Use the power of their voice

  • Lead with love.
